INTEROFFICE MEMO

Date: November 3rd, 1994
From: Deputy Director Lorna Bell
To: Director Nathaniel Wren
Subject: Re: FOX Network Inquiry – “X-Files” Interview Request

Sir,

Following up on the outreach we received from FOX Broadcasting—specifically, a producer named John Shiban, who requested access to “former or current agents” of "shadow government divisions" for background research on Season 2 of their show The X-Files.

Per your instruction to “give them something entertaining and absolutely unhelpful,” we dispatched three probationary recruits from Site 17 (Agents Felder, Yu, and Singh) under fabricated clearances and the internal codename Operation Mulder Misdirect.

The agents leaned hard into the alien angle. Yu even wore a tinfoil lapel pin. They discussed telepathic Greys, frozen saucers in Utah (true, but unimportant), and something called the “Plasma Pope.” Shiban ate it up.

None of them mentioned the Seethe, the Red, the Bleed Protocol, or the actual spatial buckling events in Arizona last quarter.

Net result: public interest deflected toward interstellar nonsense, our actual dimensional problems remain beneath radar, and FOX is sending fruit baskets to the wrong base.

Excellent outcome. Recommend annual misdirection drop for entertainment sectors moving forward.
